Christian Education

Mission

The mission of Christian Education at First Presbyterian church is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, providing opportunities for the formation of Christian relationships, and a forum in which adults and children can gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Christian in today's world. We strive to achieve these objectives by providing a dynamic set of learning opportunities for church members and visitors.

Some examples of events include:

  • Peace Offering program
  • Christmas Joy Offering program
  • Easter EggStravaganza
  • Fall Communion Workshop for 1st & 2nd grades
  • Advent Workshop
  • Children's Christmas Pageant
  • Summer Bible School
  • Confirmation classes for Middle & High School youth

Sunday School

Sunday school takes place between Sunday worship services, beginning at 9:40 AM. There are offerings for all ages, preschool through adults, with several options for adults to accomodate differing needs and interests. Classes begin the Sunday after Labor Day and end Memorial Day weekend. Classes are team-taught and students are welcome to attend as often as they can throughout the year. We love visitors!! Registration is requested to plan for curriculum and supplies. Stewardship offering envelopes are available for children to develop the habit of sharing our many gifts.

Summer Bible School - July 10-14:  9-12:00 noon

'Hero Central'Join us for epic adventures alongside some of our favorite Bible heroes and discover the qualities that make us truly heroic in God. VBS Hero Central uses epic music, spectacular science, crafty crafts, heroic recreation, and fantastic Bible stories to help kids (and leaders) discover their strength in God!!

Bible Distribution

All children entering the Kindergarten/1st Grade Sunday School class are given an age appropriate Bible and tote bag at the beginning of the Sunday School program year. As children learn to read, they also learn to appreciate the powerful resource and lessons that they have in their personal Bible. This gift is possible due to the Pat Kidder Memorial Fund. Bibles are also available to anyone of any age, by making a request to the Director of Christian Ed or church office.
